Qwest upgrades fiber

Qwest announced its deployment of upgrades to its nationwide fiber optic network that quadruple broadband capacity for customers, and triple geographic availability of ultra-high-speed services. When combined with Qwest’s Metro Ethernet or Private Line services, the upgrade provides an end-to-end, cost-efficient, high-bandwidth connection delivering speeds scalable from 1 to 40 Gigabits per second.

Qwest Furnishes IKEA

Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced a renewed agreement to provide IKEA North America Services, LLC with voice and data services for 32 locations nationwide. (NYSE: Q) today reported solid first quarter 2007 results highlighted by sequential and year-over-year margin expansion as well as significant net income and earnings per share growth. For the quarter, Qwest reported earnings of $240 million, or $0.12 per diluted share compared with earnings of $88 million, or $0.05 per diluted share in the first quarter 2006.
