Investigation Concludes That Combination Would Not Reduce Competition
“After thoroughly investigating AT&T’s proposed acquisition of BellSouth, the Antitrust Division determined that the proposed transaction is not likely to reduce competition substantially. The Division investigated all areas in which the two companies currently compete – including residential local and long distance service, telecommunications services provided to business customers, and Internet services – and the merger’s impact on future competition for wireless broadband services. AT&T has broadened its relationship with US Airways Group Inc. (NYSE: LCC) by agreeing to a $7 million networking equipment agreement. AT&T’s board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.3325 a share on the company’s common shares. The third-quarter dividend is payable on Nov. 1, 2006, to stockholders of record at the close of business on Oct. 10, 2006.
AT&T Inc. today announced the extension of AT&T’s enterprise portfolio of online PC, laptop and server backup solutions to consumers and small and medium-sized businesses. AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a three-year, $1.6 million contract with Shoe Carnival, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCVL) to provide a fully managed high speed wide area network. The solution will link Shoe Carnival’s headquarters in Evansville, Ind. with more than 266 store locations nationwide.
The agreement extends and expands a long-term relationship between the two companies.
